The Big 2-0

Thank you to everyone who participated in the book giveaway! 🙂

So I turned 20 last week. My family didn’t do much only because at the moment, we’re experiencing some family troubles. It’s an on-going and probably never-ending issue that I touched upon this post here – if you listen to the song within that post, it pretty much sums my circumstances. My sister and I had initially left to live with my aunty and uncle but that itself rose some other problems and then we eventually got guilt-tripped by our mother to return. And thus the cycle starts again.

But yes! I am 20 now~ I know to some readers that’s pretty ooooooold hahaha. Funny thing is, I’ve been told time and time again that I look younger for my age (*cough* 14-16 *cough* I guess it’s because I’m petite) but I definitely act much older for my age.

And here’s a little something that I’ve been working on:

I haven’t manga-coloured in months and was pretty surprised that it turned out somewhat okay looking. It was from two different panels in Pandora Hearts Chapter 74 (gah, that chapter killed me!) but I combined them together. Honestly, Pandora Hearts is amazing I love it 🙂

    Happy birthday!! 🙂
We never really do anything for anyone’s birthdays in my family… I guess it’s an Asian thing. XD
    When I turned 20, I was like “Lawd… What even…”
But I’m 23 now, and people still think I’m 16. 😛 So nothing really changes. XD

But happy birthday, hope your family situations work out somewhat (mine are pretty messed up too. oh well. can’t choose a family, eh? not that I don’t love them dearly…), and love the manga coloring!

(This is EuXuE from Twitter, btw. :3)

Happy 20th Birthday Misaki ♥ Well, I’ve been told that I look younger than my real age too XDD I’m 18, and some people at work thought I was 16 ;u; I also have a cousin who’s now 25 but since she’s short, people tend to think she’s 14 haha!

    And man, I love your coloring so mucho *u* I met Mochizuki-sensei at a con during some kind of autograph session two years ago and man, she’s really sweet I don’t even ;A;

Yesssss I’m back ♥ I didn’t have much time to blog ;u; thank you >U<

Well, yeah ;u; I have co-workers who are doing this job since 17 years or something like that… I wonder how they coped with such customers all those years, they have my total respect lol. I guess I'd have resigned sooner or later XD

Today I bought the White Shatter! I'm going to try it later~ I should stop spending money on my nails ;u; but can't help it when it's good and cheap OTL

=/ I hope your family situation works out in the end. It seems like you’re always experiencing problems in life.

The manga coloring looks great. I only wish it were bigger. Pandora Hearts does sound like a good read. I may check it out sometime.

I think many Asian people look younger than their age. It also depends on context too. Sometimes, I am mistaken for my brother’s mother, picking him up from somewhere, while other times I’m mistaken for a teenager at a movie theater.

Happy 20th birthday, Misaki! I can understand what you’re going through. My father has done some pretty bad stuff to my mum in the past and they used to constantly have “problems”. But things seem to be better now, hopefully the same will happen to your family.

And I agree with Sue, I’m not meant to sound racist or anything, and I am Asian myself, but I tend to see that the shorter people “in the pack” are Asians, although the tallest person in my class is actually a Vietname, so I guess it comes down to that “you’re born with it” thing. As for me, I’m pretty short myself, but since I’m the tallest out of my two brothers (including my twin borther :p), my mum and dad think I’m humongous!

Anyways, I love the manga colouring! I suck at colouring, mainly because I’ve only tried it twice, and then gave up on both! You’re technique is sooo good, I especially love the shading/tone! 🙂

    Happy 20th birthday! Wee!

Aww *pats back*. Family problems do come. I’ve experienced a number of this kind of problems and it somewhat affected a lot of things especially my studies. So I hope you stay strong and your family work things out soon.

I like the manga colouring. 😀 The colors are soft and it fits the mood. Hope to see more of it!

Happy belated birthday! Sorry to hear about trouble with your family, I hope it gets better soon 🙁
20 isn’t old at all, but maybe that’s because I’m almost going to be 25 soon…omg, just typing that out scares me, haha.

You colored that? I thought you scanned it or something, it looks very professional!

    Happy belated birthday!

I hope everything works out for you and your family in the end. I know tough times come, but hopefully as a family you can make it through! My family has gone through so much, and although we don’t all live under the same roof, and it hurts – it gets easier to smile after time. 🙂

    Haha, well if it helps, I’m 15, and I get mistaken for 17 – 19. Whoops – I look old. :$

I really like the colouring! I draw and I paint, and I do all sorts of artistic stuff, but one thing I cannot get the hang of is digital art. Ugh, I’m rubbish at digital art! But it’s very pretty, and it’d be nice to see more!

Oh happy belated birthday, Misaki 😀 I used to get mistaken for fifteen when I was 11 & twelve, and when I was fifteen for being 18 or so… and now that I’m a whopping 26.5… people think I’m 16. I guess until we’ve got wrinkles and gray hair, we’ll not be visually our correct age to the world at large. I guess it could be a good thing, though! It’s all in how you feel, I think.

As far as your family problems go… I hope whatever hurts will eventually make you stronger 😉

Happy birthday and welcome to age 20! I think I remember a picture of you haha you did look pretty young. But so do I! Don’t worry it runs in Asian genes. My brother gets carded if he goes to a bar … he is 26. The drinking age in Korea is 19 haha.

My internet is terrible at the moment but I don’t even need to click the link to know what you’re talking about. I understand why your mom might want you two back home. From my experience family problems don’t work out if the family refuses to be together (like my brother in Korea, for example), so maybe it’s for the best. Stay strong *hug*

Here the normal graduation age is 22, unless you’re born in the summer, some places if you’re born after June. It has to do with when you start school, but whichever way people should be 22 or turning 22 that year if they graduate. My brother graduated a few months after he turned 21, which is one year earlier than normal.

I got the co.cc problem to work out! And you are hosting molla as of now! I noticed some of the hostees had multiple websites listed, so can you do that for me too when you have time?

Happy belated birthday, love. Nice to know that you’re 20 now. Most Asians don’t look like their age. I’m actually 21 and I look like I am 14-18. Hahaha, it’s a good and bad thing but whatever.

And, I love your manga colouring. It’s beautiful. I tried it out one time like 2-3 years ago. I wasn’t that good but it was alright. Today, I tried it out again and omg, it sucked xD I’m like so confused.

Anyways, have a nice day 🙂

Happy birthday! 20 isn’t old at all.

I always have people telling me that I look younger than I really am, mainly because of my height. I went to get some food samples once, and the employee asked me if I was 13. I’m 16.

Happy belated birthday! 🙂 Hope you had a wonderful one!
I think I understand what you mean. I’m very “small” too so I don’t look my age (19).
And your work looks amazing! Very professional!

Happy belated birthday. If 20 is old than 23 must also be old. -.- I turn 23 this September but I get 16 a lot as well. XD
I’m sorry you are dealing with some heavy problems. I hope everything works out. And nice manga art. Very cute.

Ah, family troubles, eh. They never get old and they never die; even though I still get my birthday celebrated – mainly because parents think it’s necessary to celebrate it despite me saying no, I don’t need celebration because heck it’s just a birthday and that I care more family’s financial issue…
Haha, I’m almost 17 but when I told people I’m almost 17, they all went, “I thought you’re still 13!” and they said I have baby face. o___o and then when I start talking seriously regarding something, they’re going to be like, “are you sure you’re 17 and not 30?” LOL
Pandora Hearts is amazing! I’ve stopped reading it because I forgot where did I stopped 🙁 but I did finish the anime though it wasn’t anything like the manga,of course. Anyway, aww I miss Alice and Oz :\ and I miss Xerxes Break so terribly :((
