Freedom! (Party Time ♫)

Yeah, I disappeared for just a little bit 🙂 Exams. You get the drill.

But I’m done and you know what that means? Party time! ♫ Ah no, it’s more like ‘omg I’m freeeeee!’….’okay, there’s nothing to do T_T’.

On the day I finished my exams, I went to watch Brave. It was a toss up between that and Snow White and the Huntsman but I think after an exam, it’s nice watching something light and fluffy so we went with Brave.

I loved it! I mean it may not have been completely ground-breaking but it was funny, light, heartwarming and perfect for post-exam syndrome. It deals with ‘mother and daughter’ relationships and I think it’s the ‘female’ version of Finding Nemo. I enjoyed Merida as the protagonist – she’s a good strong heroine. I think it’s great that they finally portrayed a heroine who’s endgame is not (typo before! LOL) just to get married.

During my exam period, I also managed to pick up a nasty cold. Stress = lowered immune system. Doesn’t help that I work in a pharmacy and have all these people coming in and coughing. Some people actually don’t even cover their mouths when they cough and I have to stand there, counselling the patient about how to take the medicine without pulling a disgusted face as it’s not professional. The moment they’re gone, I’m running to get the hand sanitiser and disinfectant spray and pretty much use half the spray lol. I’m pretty good now, though I still have the sniffles here and there.

I’m going to tell myself that I’m going to make use of my one month holiday but I’m pretty sure I’ll just be bumming around at home 😀 I’m eyeing some books to engross myself with.

I was in the book store the other day and Jo Spurrier’s debut novel Winter Be My Shield caught my eye. She’s an Australian author (so like Bitter Greens, you probably won’t be able to find the book) but I checked out some reviews on Good Reads and the book seems interesting. High fantasy was one of my favourite genres growing up. Here’s a link to the Google Play Book. I’ll hopefully buy the book within a few days and keep you updated with how it is 🙂

Setting me off like sparks

I admit – I might, just might have a thing for the colour cyan (and it’s shades).

I’ve stripped Sky-Song.ORG down to a very basic but hopefully still pleasing layout. Very miminal. Not sure if I hate it or love it and might change it – I’ve been staring at it too much and think I hate it now…but at least I’m back to blogging. Yes, I am back – for how long is the question – but I do intend to still be around. What happened in the months that I disappeared? Frankly, not much T_T

  • 3rd year of Pharmacy is a bitch. Pardon me, but it honestly is. It’s interesting but my stress levels are so high that I’m pretty sure that I’m going to have hypertension. How they’ve structured the course is basically every 6 weeks we have our final exams for 2 subjects (instead of the 12/13 week semester, then 4 final exams). Painful? Yes indeedy!
  • As cliched and corny as this may sound: I’ve been trying to find myself and determine who I want to be. I’m a girl with lots of baggage (like most I suppose!) but this year has been a lot of ‘soul-searching’ and trying to work on my issues – which are a lot.

That’s pretty much all I’ve been doing. Sad, isn’t it? 😐 Just as I’ve finished exams, I have more coming up around the corner (2 weeks to be exact).

I recently devoured this amazing, beautiful book – Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth. I had been eyeing it for a while and then finally decided to buy it and was not disappointed at all.

It’s the re-telling of Rapunzel and focuses on three main characters. I admit, I’m generally not fond of multiple main protagonists (I suppose in this case – antagonist as well) but it’s so beautifully written and woven that I loved it and didn’t mind at all. I found myself happily lost in the book. I would recommend if you’re a fan of retelling of fairytales, lush historical settings and strong, interesting characters.

In other news…the Samsung Galaxy SIII has been released! I’ve been eyeing the phone for quite some time and will probably get it. Outright, it’s about $750-$800 USD…so I might wait a bit, depending on how impulsive I get, lol. But I definitely know I’ll be replacing my shitty Nokia N95 Mini. My Uncle got it for me as a present which was really nice of him since at the time that he had brought it (2 years ago?) it had been expensive and he doesn’t make much. But I think it’s time for a new phone that doesn’t make me want to throw it at the wall in frustration LOL.

How has everyone else been? 🙂
